VISITS WITH JAMES GOLDSTEIN
Visits with James Goldstein
Seldom is an individual a recognized icon in three separate areas.
The calling card of James "Jim" Goldstein reads "Fashion, Architecture, Basketball".
While Goldstein's wealth from real estate and saavy investing has been well reported, this does not account for his legion of devoted friends.
Goldstein is a trendsetter. As NBA Commissioner David Stern has stated, "He probably has the largest investment of any fan in America...we love him as a superfan". Characteristically, Goldstein was one of the few persons to whom Shaq referred on the recent retirement of his jersey by the Lakers.
Goldstein regularly attends and influences dozens of high profile fashion events in the US and abroad. Karl Lagerfield and many others designers, super models, and journalists look to him for his special eye and friendship.
Not surprisingly, Goldstein lives in one of the architectural gems of our time, a residence high in the Los Angeles hills designed by John Lautner which Goldstein has restored over many years to its original splendor. Never content to live in the past, Goldstein has commissioned avant garde light artist James Turrell to construct a special installation in the residence, and is at work on a monumental tennis court perched on the edge of one cliff, in addition to other noteworthy additions.
MB Abram Galleries was honored to have a visit by Goldstein to our downtown gallery recently, Goldstein here to view the NBA portraits on glass of Michael Farhat of Art Mobb. Goldstein graciously extended to us an invitation to visit his residence thereafter, this in preparation for his forthcoming portrait.
We present here a collage of our recent visits with Goldstein. We look forward to meeting Goldstein again at the time of the presentation of his painted portrait by Art Mobb.
