Early African Ekonda Congo cuff, almost solid copper. Energetically and visually a wealth piece which is in a category of its own, for its elegance, copper content and age. Put next to a later, and more common Ekonda cuff, the copper color and surfaces makes clear this is a different order of piece. Very good condition for age and obvious extensive use. These would have been worn by a member of royalty or other important wife. These were extraordinarily heavy, but were viewed as important symbols of prestige. Circa 15th-18th century
