An handaxe made using a stone hammer to remove flakes from the sides & all around the periphery. Its shape resembles an animal's head, with a deep natural cavity in the location of its "eye" The hominid maker has worked around this cavity feature, appearing to have intentionally left it in the position it now occupies on one side. Circa 350,000- 400,000 BC These zoomorphic appearing pieces are rare in the Lower Paleolithic context.
